Nominate now for maritime innovation awards

Entries for this year's Maritime Australia Industry Innovation Awards are now open. Worth more than $40,000, the awards recognise and reward Australian companies and individuals who are leaders in naval and commercial maritime innovation.

The six awards range from trophies to grants and scholarships and will be presented at the Pacific 2017 exposition, being held in Sydney from 3-5 October.

Eligible small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) could win a $10,000 Innovation Grant, while Young Innovators stand to win a $10,000 innovation scholarship. The winners of the national defence and civil innovation awards will be presented with trophies in addition to gaining the attention of naval and industry leaders and international media attending Pacific 2017.

Defence innovators will be eligible for the:

  • Maritime Australia Defence Industry National Innovation Award
  • Maritime Australia Defence SME Innovation Grant
  • Maritime Australia Young Innovator Scholarship for Defence Industry.

Non-defence companies and individuals will be eligible for the:

  • Maritime Australia Civil Industry Innovation Award
  • Maritime Australia Civil SME Innovation Grant
  • Maritime Australia Young Innovator Scholarship for Civil Industry.

The awards were developed by the national not-for-profit foundation, Industry Defence and Security Australia Limited (IDSAL), organisers of the biennial Pacific International Maritime Exposition (Pacific 2017.)

The awards, first presented in 2013, are designed to recognise Australia's skills and expertise and reward highly innovative work being undertaken by Australian companies and individuals. The awards are open to Australian companies, or the Australian subsidiaries of overseas parent companies, and the innovation could range from a new product or service, to a new approach to business.

Nominations for the Maritime Australia Industry Innovation Awards will close on 1 August with candidates shortlisted by 21 August.
