Defence Jobs Queensland joined Queensland’s leading naval defence and commercial maritime suppliers to showcase our state’s sea capabilities to key national and international decision makers at the Pacific 2019 International Maritime Exposition.

Pacific 2019 was the tenth in the biennial series, building on successful events since 2000. It was held at the Sydney International Convention Centre from 8-10 October 2019.

Pacific, the only comprehensive maritime expo in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, brings together industry, government and defence professionals from around the world for three days to showcase the latest in maritime technology and capability.

Joining us on the Queensland Government stand at Pacific 2019 to promote our state’s maritime industry were:

  • Airberth is an Australian owned and operated developer of innovative and market leading floating boat lift systems, that are currently exported to 30 countries around the world. The AirBerth® Boat Lift allows vessels to be stored out of the water—protecting boat hulls from marine growth and motors from electrolysis—and offers rapid deployment and retrieval. With nearly 20 years’ experience, Airberth® is a proven choice for military for small vessel fleet management and is export ready to meet the demands of both commercial and maritime sectors. The company was awarded the Maritime Australia Limited Industry Innovation Award in 2015.

  • Aleeda has been making wetsuits, neoprene products and lycra wear from its Gold Coast factory since 1969. With long time involvement in recreational waters pursuits, Aleeda is also a supplier to many essential services such as Surf Life Saving and Rescue & Emergency Services. Manufactured in Australia for Australian conditions, Aleeda’s research and development guarantees a performance product that will go the distance.

  • AMS Group is a versatile technology integrator and service delivery organisation that provides innovative solutions and integrated logistics support to the maritime, defence and aviation industries. A dedicated engineering, project delivery and maintenance company, the company specialises in design, construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure and complex maritime electronic systems projects for ports, harbours and maritime organisations.

  • Aqualuma LED Lighting provides a vast range of energy efficient LED lighting products designed and manufactured in Australia. The company manufactures LED products ideally suited to warehousing, factories, logistics, hangars, distribution centres, storage areas, cold stores and food grade facilities. Aqualuma offers a free initial lighting design service for all their clients to ensure the most efficient use of lighting fixtures, often reducing the number of fixtures needed to allow for the most cost-effective solution. Various state rebate scheme approved.

  • BSE Maritime Solutions provides ship repair, maintenance and refit services to defence, government, commercial, tourism, and luxury clients across eastern and northern Australia. BSE’s team of highly skilled and experienced tradespeople—working across their two large haul-out shipyards, located in Brisbane and Cairns—provides a full range of ship services including 2500T & 1200T slipways, 1120T mobile boat hoist (MBH) with fit out sheds and 250m of wharfage, class approved hull and structural, protective coatings, engineering and fabrication, mechanical fitting and machinery maintenance, and electrical and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning).

  • Craig International Ballistics is a Queensland-based manufacturer and the primary supplier of body armour to the Australian Defence Force. The company also produces a range of ballistic protection products including armour panels, vehicle spall liners, armoured vehicles, body armour training inserts and transparent armour assemblies. Craig International Ballistics represents American Glass Products in Australia for bullet resistant glass.

  • EM Solutions is a trusted technology developer of innovative microwave and on-the-move radio and satellite products that help to deliver high speed telecommunications anywhere in the world. The company’s principal activity is the design, assembly, test, and support of high end, broadband satellite transceivers and communications-on-the-move terminals for defence and government customers. Some of EM Solutions’ customers serve the national interest and require resilient and assured systems operable in high threat environments.   • Ferra Engineering is a global organisation with its headquarters in Queensland and offices in the USA and India. The company specialises in design, manufacture and assembly of complex aerospace structures and subsystems for commercial and military aviation, and other defence industries.   • The Great Barrier Reef International Marine College is a campus of TAFE Queensland, located in Cairns. The modern facility has a full mission bridge simulator, multi-purpose emergency response training simulator, sea survival training immersion pool, two training vessels, and navigation labs.

  • Hetech is an established Australian electronics design and manufacturing company that has been delivering high quality customer specific solutions to the defence and commercial sectors for more than 25 years. Hetech’s extensive range of services includes electronic contract manufacturing and turnkey projects, PCB and schematics design, SMT and thru-hole assembly, prototyping, potting, conformal and cable looms. The company is ISO9001:2015 accredited and build to J-STD-001/IPC-A-610 class 3.

  • Norship is an Australian owned business with a 70 year heritage in sustainment and extensive experience in national fleet management for the Australian Border Force, Pacific Patrol Boat integrated support services for the Department of Defence and patrol boat maintenance, engineering and supply support to its prime contractor clients.

    The company offers the full spectrum of shipyard services from concept design, prototype development, construction and maintenance support through to docking, emergent repairs, complete refits and disposals. Norship provides a total asset lifecycle management solution to a range of defence, government, law enforcement and commercial partners. The company’s team of professionals includes marine trades, project managers and certified engineers. Norship is DEF(Aust) 5000 and ISO9001, 14001, 4801 accredited.

  • For more than 65 years Queensland Gaskets has offered specialised cutting and manufacturing using a wide range of materials. The company also provides Mil Spec EMI/RFI Shielding, with partners SSP (Specialty Silicone Products), including corrosion resistant shielding supplied into numerous defence programs globally. In addition, it supplies thermal interface materials, US Mil Spec rubber material designed and manufactured for Naval applications, standard rubber, engineered plastics, and steels and alloys that are all cut to a tolerance of +/-0.1mm. Queensland Gaskets Quality Management System is certified to ISO 9001:2015.

  • STEYR Motors Australia specialises in state of the art, high density diesel power solutions for marine and automotive applications that are compact, light and have low vibration. The STEYR Motors range uses specially developed fuel systems that provide the option of running on multi fuel, and offers a flexible platform for engineering solutions, as required by end consumers. Platforms are available for marine and automotive, including APU power generation. The company also offers environmentally-friendly hybrid solutions as well as maritime refit and repair services for defence and commercial customers.

  • The Yard Brisbane offers a wide range of marine services for large commercial vessels, superyachts and recreational vessels including vessel refit and repair, project management, manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, painting, electrical, design and maintenance. The company also offers a variety of vessel storage options in a fully secure facility. The Yard Brisbane recently won the 2019 AIMEX Best Commercial Marine Service Provider Award for its excellent service, on-site experienced marine trades, commercial capability and infrastructure.

  • Thompson Couplings is an Australian-designed and patented manufacturer of high quality, reliable and durable alignment eliminator couplings and constant velocity joints that can be used across the Defence platform in land, air and naval applications.

  • Tropical Reef Shipyard (TRS) houses the largest slipway in Northern Australia, is an approved defence facility and offers a range of refit and maintenance services including electrical and mechanical fitting, hydraulic repairs, aluminium and steel fabrication, spray-painting, and machining. TRS can cater slipping of vessels up to 3000 tonne capacity.
