Cairns Airport

Cairns Airport is one of Australia’s leading airports, providing links to a range of domestic and international destinations. Cairns is the only place in the world where two natural UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites sit side-by-side; the Wet Tropics rainforests and Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is also the closest Australian city to Papua New Guinea and is at the heart of the Asia Pacific region, with major centres such as Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China and the South Pacific in easy reach. Cairns Airport’s General Aviation Precinct is a major economic driver, with more than 100 businesses employing in excess of 3,500 skilled workers. The precinct is home to a range of businesses and industries including freight consolidation, rescue firefighting services, avionics, government agencies, maintenance, charter and scenic fights, engineering, education and training, and aircraft cleaning and detailing. Cairns Airport is also currently developing a new Eastern Aviation Precinct, with plans for a common-use hangar for MRO providers, unlocking additional capacity and positioning Cairns as a national industry leader.
