Queensland innovators shortlisted for maritime awards
Four Queensland innovators are among the 10 Australian companies shortlisted for this year's prestigious Maritime Australia Limited Industry Innovation Awards.
The winners will be announced and showcased at the Pacific 2015 International Maritime Exposition in Sydney from 6-8 October.
The Queensland-based companies are:
- AirBerth for their revolutionary AirBerth boat lift that allows boats to be stored out of the water to reduce maintenance costs caused by in-water storage of both vessels and boat lifts
- Aero Medical Engineering for their advanced lightweight stretcher used in medical rescue and made from ultra-light, high-strength composite materials
- Metromatics for their lightweight electronics enclosures for protective packaging used by the military
- Sea Transport Corporation for their floating harbour transhipper that enables export of bulk commodities such as grain, ore and coal without the need to invest in significant port and seabed infrastructure.
Find out more about these innovations on our dedicated Pacific 2015 web page.
The Innovation Awards were presented for the first time at Pacific 2013 and many of that year's entrants have gone on to further success.
