Army chinook facilities to be upgraded at raaf base townsville
A $54.8 million upgrade of the Army’s Chinook helicopter facility in Townsville has been given the go-ahead by the Federal Government’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works. The upgrade is due to commence later this year and completion is scheduled for mid-2017. The new facilities will improve the capability of the 5th Aviation Regiment C-Squadron as well as the capability of the Australian Defence Force operating out of Townsville. The project is also expected to create 50 full-time positions.
