Two new C-17 Globemasters to be based at Amberley

The Australian Government plans to purchase two new Boeing C-17A Globemaster strategic lift aircraft to supplement the existing fleet of six aircraft at RAAF Base Amberley. Pricing and availability data is being sought through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program and the current force structure review will determine the final decision regarding the aircraft purchase.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon David Johnston, says C-17A aircraft have excellent performance when it comes to Australian military operations and humanitarian work.
