Australian Government commits $5 million to Skilling Australia's Defence Industry program

The Australian Government has announced that it will continue funding the Skilling Australia's Defence Industry (SADI) program and has committed $5 million in funding for the 2015-16 financial year.

The SADI program aims to boost the essential skills of workers in Australia's defence industry workforce. Companies are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for funding to support skilling activities taking place throughout the 2015-16 financial year.

The program provides funding to Australian companies or Australian defence industry associations who have a current Defence contract or are expecting to tender for a Defence contract within the next 12 months.

The SADI program works toward increasing the number of qualified engineers, technicians, tradespeople and project managers in the defence industry.

Grant recipients can optimise their training outcomes by being able to self-select, prioritise and reschedule their training from an approved list of eligible funded activities.
