Queensland's heavy vehicle capability delivers new trucks to Army and jobs for the state

The Australian Army's 7th Brigade, based at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane, has received its second delivery of locally manufactured trucks, trailers and modules as part of a $1.6 billion LAND 121 contract.

The delivery comes with a boost to local jobs with more than 220 new jobs in the state's heavy vehicle manufacturing industry and flow on benefits across the supply chain.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Australia (RMMVA), based at Wacol, is manufacturing the new trucks while Haulmark Trailers at Rocklea, is constructing the trailers.

RMMVA's Queensland workforce has increased from 15 to more than 125 and Rocklea-based Haulmark Trailers has created approximately 110 jobs across the company and their supply chain.

In addition, Logan company Holmwood Highgate shared in a $65 million contract to manufacture the modules required by LAND 121. They have increased their staff numbers to manufacture the more than 250 tailor-made modules for use in logistics.

Queensland is now Australia's largest manufacturer of heavy vehicles and with ongoing support from the Queensland Government is set to become a defence industry powerhouse.
