Queensland defence companies shortlisted for Premier of Queensland Export Awards

Defence Industries Queensland would like to congratulate three Queensland companies working in the defence sector who have been shortlisted for this year's prestigious Premier of Queensland Export Awards.

Packer Leather, who make kangaroo gloves for international defence forces, has been named as one of four finalists in the Manufacturing category along with EM Solutions, who were also shortlisted in the Information & Communication Technology category.

EM Solutions specialises in the design and manufacture of technologically superior microwave terrestrial and satellite equipment, including E-band microwave links and a multi-band Satcom-on-the-move system. For more than 15 years, the company has produced integrated RF modules used in low noise receivers and solid state high-power transmitters for defence and commercial customers around the world.

Ferra Engineering has been named as one of three finalists in the Business Services category. Ferra serves local and international defence and aerospace companies and specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly and testing of aerospace structures and sub-systems. The company also supports customers on development programs and provides spare parts for regional, business and military services.

The awards presentation dinner will be held from 6 pm on Wednesday 7 October at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
