Department of Defence calls for ideas to boost defence capability

Have you got a new idea or approach to boost Australia's defence capability?

The Defence Science and Technology Group (DST Group) within the Department of Defence have called for applications for Round 21 of their Capability Technology Demonstrator (CTD) Program.

The DST Group is the Australian Government's lead agency responsible for applying science and technology to safeguard Australia and its national interests.

Interested industry and research organisations are encouraged to submit an initial proposal to ‘demonstrate your technology’.

The DST Group is seeking innovative, industry-led proposals aimed at developing and demonstrating technology that could lead to improvements in defence capabilities.

The CTD Program operates on an annual rounds basis with a public call for project proposals. It is a collaborative activity and has been successful in bringing together defence, research organisations and industry to work on developing new technologies to demonstrator level.

The program's emphasis is on technology in Australian and New Zealand industry that has the potential to provide capability advantages for defence and allow industry to position itself to provide in-service capabilities and through-life support.

Lodgement for initial proposals close 25 July 2016.

The purpose of the initial proposal is to provide defence with a basic understanding of the proposed technology, so its suitability for the CTD Program can be determined.
