Chinook helicopter pilots to now train in Queensland

The Australian Defence Force are setting up two Chinook flight simulators in Townsville enabling pilots to train here in Queensland instead of travelling to the United States.

The $15 million flight simulators mimic the helicopter's real environment, and prepare pilots for real-life scenarios and test their capabilities in mock emergencies.

The simulators for the Army's twin-rotor heavy-lift helicopters are the only two of their type in Australia and will be housed at the Defence Force's North Queensland aviation hub.
