Defence Industries Queensland at Avalon 2017

Queensland's leading aerospace and air defence organisations were on show to a record crowd of more than 210,000 at the Australian International Aerospace and Defence Exposition—Avalon 2017.
Defence Industries Queensland (DIQld) exhibited at the event, hosting 13 partners on the Queensland Government stand.
The industry-only trade days attracted nearly 34,000 attendees providing unrivalled exposure for the 664 exhibitors. Organisers have estimated that exhibitors were exposed to more than $24 billion worth of business opportunities.
In addition to hosting industry partners on the Queensland Government stand, DIQld held a highly targeted business networking reception and provided support for other Queensland organisations represented at Avalon 2017.

Archerfield Airport is Brisbane's metropolitan airport, located 11kms from the CBD. It is a major hub for corporate, commercial and generation aviation. The airport is home to fixed and rotary wing aircraft for charter, aeromedical/emergency, business/corporate jets, flying training, maintenance, sales and education. Operators include QGAir, LifeFlight, Aviall-Boeing, Altitude, Archerfield Jet Base, PolAir, BAE, Rapair, Basair, Flight One, Gil Layts, Performance Aero, Superior Airparts, Qld Fire and Emergency Services, McDermotts, Prop Care, Quality Avionics, Flight Maintenance and RQAC.
Asia Pacific Aerospace (APA) is an Australian company offering gas turbine maintenance, repair and overhaul for the GE-T700 series engines, as well as the Rolls Royce M250 and 300 series engines, and the Honeywell LTS. APA recently signed a contract with the US Navy for the T700 engines flown in the ROMEO helicopters by the Australian Navy. APA has facilities in Australia and Singapore.
Aviation Australia is a world class, registered training organisation, offering courses in maintenance engineering, cabin crew and pilot training. Delivering courses around the globe, Aviation Australia offers theoretical and practical training to ensure excellence in aviation training.
Ferra Engineering is a global organisation with its headquarters in Queensland and offices in the USA and India. Ferra partners with local and overseas commercial aerospace companies and defence forces to develop programs, establish platforms and provide an ever-increasing range of highly specialised products and engineering services.
Gilmour Space Technologies is a Queensland-based space engineering company that designs and builds low-cost hybrid rockets for suborbital and orbital payload systems; UAVs for commercial and military use; high fidelity spaceflight simulators and replicas on static/motion-based platforms; and other innovative space technologies.
L3 Micreo's core business is the design and manufacture of RF and photonic products primarily deployed in Electronic warfare and Self Protection Systems. Micreo has extensive domestic and export success as a supplier to global aerospace and defence-related organisations. Micreo also has a well proven, high-quality electronic build-to-print capability and is able to undertake the repair and maintenance of complex third party RF products.

Queensland Government Defence and aerospace business leaders' networking reception
On Wednesday 1 March 2017, Defence Industries Queensland hosted a reception for Defence and aerospace business leaders attending Avalon 2017, at the Langham Hotel in Melbourne.
The reception was attended by more than 150 representatives from industry, Defence and government. Keynote addresses were delivered by the Queensland Government’s Director-General Michael Schaumburg, and Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) Board Member and HTA’s Director, Dr Karen Stanton.
